Project Description:
It was recognised from the early offset that the project was required to be undertaken with due regard to the sensitivity of the GE operations.
AR's Aim was to deliver the project with minimal impact to the live operations directly adjacent to the site. With nature and risks associated with the GE operations, environmental emissions and all normal aspects of demolition projects (such as waste movements, dust & vibration) were going to need robust controls.
Daily communication with the client and daily site briefings/toolbox talks with all AR demolition operatives and letter drops to residents were undertaken.
Key Challenges:
With the unique and sensitive nature of the surrounding operations and the sensitivity over dust emissions, AR's new innovative high reach dust suppression equipment paid dividends. The new equipment successfully controlled the dust throughout a series of significant mechanical demolition activities. This resulted in the delivery of the project with no adverse elevations in dust levels.
Key Health and Safety Risks:
- Working within the Live GE facility and in close proximity to live structures
- Access and egress constraints
- The sensitivity of adjacent Live Operations to FOD, Noise, Dust & Vibration
- Access / egress constraints
- Asbestos Cement Roof Removal
